Fred Jacobi, 91, a 40-year veteran of the Army who retired with the rank of brigadier general, died Friday at his Libertyville home. Mr. Jacobi entered the Army in 1925 as a private. Among his many military positions was staff member to the commanding officer of the U.S. forces in Korea. Mr. Jacobi received nine service and campaign medals, including the Army Commendation Medal. He retired in 1965 and became president of the Northwoods Drive Homeowners Association in Deerfield. He also was Deerfield’s civil defense director. Six years ago, he moved to Libertyville. He is survived by a daughter, Sue McMeen; and a grandson. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave, Libertyville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
