The Westward Look Resort, a 244-room resort hotel in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, has been sold to a partnership of Dallas and Chicago real estate investment firms for an undisclosed price.
The resort is a 75-acre property with eight tennis courts, three swimming pools, three spas, a fitness center and a four-star dining room.
The seller was the RKO Hotel Group Inc., which acquired the hotel in 1982.
Coastal Hotel Group Inc. is an affiliate of one of the Westward Look buyers, Huron Partners Inc., a Chicago-based real estate investment firm.
The other buying partner is Olympus Real Estate Corp., a Dallas-based private real-estate merchant banking firm.
“We are pleased to be partnering with Olympus in the acquisition and refurbishing of this outstanding resort property,” said Cary Neiman, a principal of Huron Partners. “When we complete the extensive capital improvement program we have just initiated, later this year, The Westward Look Resort will be primed for leadership among first-class resort hotels in the lucrative Arizona marketplace.”
Coastal Hotel is a major operator of high-end resorts, including The Highlands Inn in Carmel, Calif., Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada, Fla. and the Beaver Creek Lodge in Vail, Colo.
