So Mike Royko is under fire–again. I recently tuned in to “squawk radio,” and the phone question of the day was, “Is Mike Royko still relevant?” This made me laugh. I’ve read columns from Royko that are 25 years old that are still relevant today. His columns have always had that quality–the ability to address a current event, and then dig out the key issues that underlie it (ones that are typically overlooked by more short-sighted “journalists”), all this while being funny.

Royko has enough wit, insight and guts for 10 columnists.
