The disappearance of a $32,000 shipment of Sparkle glass cleaner has not been cleared up.

In fact, the investigation into the whereabouts of nearly 17,000 bottles of the purple product, manufactured by Elgin’s A.J. Funk and Company, will be turned over to federal authorities, Elgin police said Monday.

The company reported last Thursday that an April 10 delivery failed to reach its destination in Fostoria, Ohio.

The Ohio distribution company said it never received the product, while the Chicago firm that trucked it said it was dropped off, police said.
