John J. Smith Jr., 100, a former maintenance shop employee for the Chicago Fire Department, died Thursday in the Village Nursing Home of Skokie. Mr. Smith, a resident of Morton Grove, served in the medical corps in World War I. Survivors include a sister, Agnes M. O’Brien, and a brother, Joseph H. Mass for Mr. Smith will be said at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Martha’s Catholic Church, 8523 Georgiana Ave., Morton Grove.
