Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
I am writing to thank you for your editorial of May 15 concerning the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
You were right on target when you pointed out that federal money is needed for networking between libraries, which local libraries cannot afford on their own. As our society becomes more polarized, the local public library, always known as “the people’s university” for its role in furthering the education of those unable to attend college, now has a similar role to play in providing automated access to information for the “have-nots.”
The new LSTA is the only federal money public libraries have. I really appreciate your efforts in encouraging our federal representatives to vote for this.
