Professor Douglas W. Kmiec’s sociological review of “The Bridges of Madison County” (Op-Ed, June 9) was right on! While Hollywood continues to celebrate the glamor and thrill of adultery, the American family continues to break down. The effects of our deteriorating moral standard are found in every nook and cranny of our educational system and in every aspect of the culture that is suffocating our young people.
True love is not discovered in the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow or in the casual one-night stand, but in the lifelong effort to take responsibility to fulfill one’s marriage vows and raise one’s children accordingly.
