Motorists marooned in traffic on the Kennedy have a new friend, the electronic sign on the side of the Chicago Fish House, 1250 W. Division St.

The day after CBS announced it was removing Connie Chung as Dan Rather’s co-anchor on the Evening News, the sign flashed, “We’d Rather Connie.” A few days later, after Rich Daley began flexing his muscles on Chicago schools, the message read, “His Honor, the Principal.”

The tomfoolery is actually Stevefoolery; it’s the work of Steve Conway, who with brother Bernard, bought the retail/wholesale fishery in January from its longtime owners.

“They used to put ‘Red Snapper, $5.99 a pound’ on the sign. I don’t think anyone cares,” notes Conway, who says, “We want to give drivers a little fun instead.”

Thus, for elections: “Wanted, Dead or Alive, Voters.” And for the playoffs: “Go Hawks, Go Bulls, Go Fish.”
