Kansas City, Mo.-based Hallmark Cards Inc. is removing 1,500 of the 2,700 greeting-card dispensing machines it has in retail stores and reducing the price of the cards dispensed by the machines by 55 cents beginning Aug. 1. The moves, analysts say, indicate that computerized greetings are failing to catch on among consumers.
