Chester J. Dzien, 69, a former Illinois state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, died Sunday at the Veterans Administration Lakeside Medical Center. Mr. Dzien, a retired construction operator from Schaumburg, was commander of Arlington Heights Post 981 and of the 4th District VFW before serving in the state post in 1993-94. Mr. Dzien served in the Navy in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Juliette; a daughter, Janice Glozier; a brother; a sister; and two grandchildren. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church, 8200 N. Greenwood Ave., Niles.
