Mr. Ratuszny worked as an accountant at the University of Chicago Press from 1949 until his retirement in 1988. He later operated a charter limousine service from his home, said City Clerk Helen Mae Asmus. He was appointed city treasurer in 1980 by Mayor William J. Bailey and was elected in 1985, 1989 and 1993, Asmus said. “Joe served the city well, with integrity and dignity,” Mayor Bonnie Strack said. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Ratuszny-Godfrey; two sisters; and a brother. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Alexander Catholic Church, 7025 W. 126th St., Palos Heights.
