The Village Plan Commission signed off on landscaping plans Wednesday night for the vast Prairie Stone business park.
Designers outlined where the natural areas would be placed: in the vicinity of Columbine Boulevard, a roadway to be built in the park; near an existing Commonwealth Edison power station; and around the Beverly Road entrance into the 786-acre park.
John Smarz, representing Homart, the park’s management company, said the natural areas will have prairie grasses, rock outcroppings, and 250 to 300 trees, in keeping with the park’s theme.
“The idea is for all the edges to demarcate Prairie Stone so we differentiate ourselves,” Smarz said.
