Bill Pulsipher earned his first major-league victory, striking out nine in 7 1/3 innings. Pulsipher, hit hard by Houston and Philadelphia in his first two starts, allowed three hits and walked five. The 21-year-old left-hander, who led the International League in strikeouts when he was promoted from the minors this month, began the game with a 7.24 ERA in the majors.
