Albert A. Pinkert, 81, of Skokie, retired vice president of a scrap metal company, died Wednesday, in Rush North Shore Medical Center. Mr. Pinkert was vice president of operations for Scrap Corp. of America, a family-owned business, formerly named People’s Iron and Metal Co., started more than 60 years ago on the South Side. He received his degree in metallugical engineering in 1936 from Michigan Mining and Technology, now known as Michigan Technological University. He is survived by his wife, Florence; a daughter, Diane Epstein Sullivan; two sons, Marvin and Dr. Ted; a brother; five sisters; and two grandchildren. Services for Mr. Pinkert will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Weinstein Brothers Wilmette Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette.
