The recent trouncing handed to Orlando by the Houston Rockets was caused by weaknesses that must be remedied before next year’s playoffs.

Orlando must obtain a playmaker to run the offense. This would free Anfernee Hardaway from ballhandling responsibilities and allow him to concentrate on scoring. Also, the addition of a “pure” point guard would allow Orlando to run a variety of plays rather than the current offense of “toss it to Shaq and if he’s double-teammed shoot a three-pointer.” Also, the Magic must get in better physical shape. Houston ran circles around Orlando. Houston is a faster team but Orlando, and especially O’Neal, ran out of gas.
