R.C. Longworth deserves a writing award for his timely and factual article about Japan (Perspective, July 2). It provides a good synopsis of our sad past relationship and our not-so-shining future regarding a country that has used our military shield to develop a risk-free base for predatory capitalism in order to capture the world’s wealth.
The good will of the American people and the fair play–and sometimes destructive nature–of competitive capitalism has no place in their scheme of things.
When they own e-mail, the press, the machines to convert the messages, and we have returned to handwritten messages, remember that R.C. Longworth told you so.
