Clarence Page is right: Republicans engage in “class warfare.” (“Will the Democrats fall for the Republicans’ `bait’ for ’96?” Op-Ed, June 28).
The GOP says the Democrats are class dividers and will do their best to turn American against American. Republicans divide the classes when they pass tax cuts that primarily benefit the rich. They turn American against American when they cut programs for society’s most vulnerable. Most of the poor and middle class spend a lifetime paying interest on necessary purchases. The rich get richer off the interest paid by the poor and the middle class.
Rush Limbaugh is always saying Democratic liberals want the poor and middle class to be dependent upon government so Democrats can win their votes. Do the rich who get richer off the interest paid by the poor and middle class really want them to be able to pay cash for their major purchases? The Democratic Party is much more concerned about meeting the needs of the poor and middle class than the “survival of the fittest” political party, the GOP.
