Federal Aviation Administration officials have called a press conference for Tuesday in Washington, where they are expected to announce that the Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center in Aurora will get new equipment to replace temporarily an old computer that has failed repeatedly in recent months.
Several other control centers nationwide also are expected to get reinforcements until a permanent computer system is developed and brought on line later this decade.
