The Village Board voted Tuesday night to approve an ordinance rezoning an estimated 8-acre parcel to allow for construction of a Marshall Field furniture store at 1717 W. 22d St.

The ordinance would rezone the site from office-research-assembly to general business district.

Construction of the store is slated to begin after demolition of the Eastman Kodak Co. building on the eastern-most of the two lots in the parcel and to be completed in September 1996. Dayton Hudson Corp., which owns Marshall Field & Co., bought the lot last spring. The other lot is owned by Kodak.

Dayton Hudson might place a free-standing ground sign along 22d Street, but would not place any signs on the building itself, said company architech Michael Tietz. If the company decides to place a sign facing the East-West Tollway, then it will have to seek a zoning release.
