I have long meant to write this but, unhappily, praise does not get one going as quickly as criticism. The writings of James Warren, Barbara Brotman and Eric Zorn consistently stand out as interesting, informative and entertaining. I wish Brotman appeared more often; in particular, her column on the Mrs. Gingrich/Connie Chung affair had this “old lady” chuckling and assenting vigorously. Warren’s “Cokie watch” has provided a whole new slant on the Washington media, as all of his Sunday column does on D.C. in general.

Indeed, one might suggest any of these columnists would be a welcome newcomer in Bob Greene’s Tempo slot. . . . Greene’s interests seem to have narrowed to the Baby Richard case and sports.
