On July 22 our son Ed sustained a life-threatening injury in a freak accident while biking on a trail in Oak Lawn.

Our deepest gratitude is extended to the total strangers who answered his plea for help. They gave their time and effort and got a tourniquet on him, got him out to a road and stopped a car. The driver summoned an ambulance on his car phone, then drove off without leaving a name.

The two people remained with Ed and kept him from bleeding to death. They saved his life as his blood pressure was dangerously low when the ambulance arrived.

They then each took the time to call long distance and report the incident to us and assure us that our son was in capable professional care.

Ed is now recovering and expects to regain full use of his hand.

Jim and Pam and the driver of the car will always be heroes in our eyes and will have our gratitude forever.
