Baby’s got a brand new bag-or an old favorite-depending on when she was born.

A symbol of ladylike stature, the clutch was seen day and night in the ’50s and ’60s with made-to-match shoes; in the disco ’70s it was rolled up like a fashion magazine.

Fast forward to ’95. These “Reast/west” creations (that’s more-long-than-tall in bag-speak) are more practical now. For day: matte leathers, faux skins, pebble or mock-croc embossing and animal prints rest on a structured frame with a clip-top closure. Foldovers and envelope styles look new with the shine of patent leather.

For evening, the clutch never left. For vacation, look for bright linens and fresh pastels. Now carry on.
