Regarding the Aug. 27 article headlined “Proposal aims at elevating equality in Brazil,” I would like to point out that Brazil’s Constitution considers racial discrimination a crime punishable with severe penalties.

Therefore it is unfair to link a supposed racial issue to the existence of service elevators, since those devices are destined and used for service personnel, regardless of their race or status.
