The U.S. Energy Department awarded Intel Corp. a $45 million contract to help develop a computer 10 times more powerful than today’s fastest supercomputers so that nuclear weapons tests can be eliminated. The computer, it’s hoped, will be able to simulate those tests in the laboratory.
