One thing that would create added interest in baseball would be to eliminate intentional walks.
The pitcher would have to pitch to all hitters, which would determine how good the pitcher is. Since pitchers command such terrific salaries, let them earn it. If he takes his lumps, so be it.
Also, the hitters would have a chance to add to their batting averages–Frank Thomas, for example.
Also, why all the specialists–starter, middleman, closer?
