Plans for what would be one of the village’s largest subdivisions were discussed Monday night by the Plan Commission.

Lexington Homes of Arlington Heights presented a preliminary site plan for the Somerset Lakes subdivision. The 557-unit development would be built on 198 acres east of the Algonquin Town Center and south of Algonquin Road.

The abandoned property was formerly used as a sand-and-gravel pit.

The preliminary layout calls for 218 single-family homes and 339 multiple dwelling units, according to Lexington Homes land planning manager Mike Richardson.

“There will be 160 single-story ranch villas and 179 two-story town homes,” Richardson said.
