Regarding your Sept. 5 editorial titled “Sharing a cab at McCormick Place”:

As a long-time member of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau and a current director of its board, I understand the importance of conventions. Shared rides will work at McCormick Place if the city, convention organizers, cab companies and associations and drivers cooperate together to ensure riders understand and use this program effectively.

Although the editorial comment about drivers’ lack of patience and cooperation does not truly reflect the professionalism of the majority of our drivers, Yellow Cab will initiate a driver-reaction survey to ascertain the merits of the shared-ride program and find ways to improve it. We want this program to work for the benefit of passengers, drivers and, ultimately, the reputation of Chicago.
