As expected, other airlines followed American Airlines’ decision to cut ticket prices by 40 percent on a limited number of seats to all U.S. and Canadian destinations through Feb. 29. United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Continental Airlines said they will remain competitive. The reduced fares require a 7-day advance purchase and a Saturday-night stay. Tickets must be purchased by next Thursday.
