Robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics and wind tunnels soon may be part of the curriculum for Prairie Grove elementary pupils.
Under an agreement between school Districts 46 and 47, Prairie Grove pupils will attend technology classes at the Hannah Beardsley Middle School when it opens next year in Crystal Lake’s District 47.
District 47 Supt. Rick Bernotas and board members Diane Johnson and Dave Hubbard made a presentation to the Prairie Grove District 46 board on Tuesday and gave highlights of the technology lab.
Prairie Grove Supt. George Steffen said a joint technology committee has been working for months to negotiate a cooperative agreement.
The lab, one of three being constructed in District 47, is being funded in part by donations from local business and civic groups. The Crystal Lake Jaycees have donated $10,000 to the project.
The District 46 financial obligation is limited to maintenance expenses and teachers’ salaries, which are yet to be determined.
