Jerry Farmer’s sentencing in federal court could be a real donnybrook. Farmer, a longtime horse trainer and trader, pleaded guilty last year to helping convicted con man Richard Bailey swindle women into buying grossly overpriced horses in a scheme lasting 15 years.

But in court papers, Farmer 62, formerly of Naperville, made it sound as if he had been a victim of Bailey’s as well and had led an otherwise honorable life.

Prosecutors are expected to attack Farmer’s interpretation of events.

Farmer is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Dirksen Federal Building, 219 S. Dearborn St.
