Here’s a software package for the seriously organized. Day Runner Inc., maker of the well-established line of leather-bound paper daily activity organizers, has moved its paper product into a personal computer version.
The result is a program that holds in the computer much of the same data that people in the Day Runner set heretofore had stashed in the company’s distinctive leather binders. It then allows users to print their data out in nice neat type fonts rather than in their own scrawled handwriting.
These slick printed forms include a variety of calendars with daily, weekly and monthly views There also are a variety of to-do lists, and forms for addresses and phone numbers.
Another feature is an expense account form that lets a user type in charges for hotel rooms, air fare, meals and other items. The software performs the arithmetic and prints out a hard copy.
Karen Muller, spokeswoman for the company, emphasized that Day Runner expects to continue to sell paper fillers for its 11.5 million customers now using the paper-only devices and that one reason behind the software version is to sell still more paper that people will use in their computer printers to dress up their Day Runners.
