Birthday: April 4.
Birthplace: Westbury, N.Y.
Occupation: Actress and producer.
Current home: Los Angeles.
Marital status: Single.
Car: A 1994 black Mazda RX7.
Working on: “Can’t Hurry Love” on CBS-TV.
The last good movie I saw: “Funny Bones.” It’s a small movie, very odd and very good.
I stay home to watch: Everything. I love television.
Favorite pig-out food: Pizza.
Favorite performer: Katharine Hepburn. It’s not just her work, it’s her personal style and commitment to her viewpoint. She’s unwavering, no matter what.
Personal hero: My mom. She’s a nurse and works with HIV-positive people. She began doing it before it became fashionable. It’s devastating, but she’s committed to it and she remains a happy, warm human being with more compassion in her little finger than most people have in their whole bodies.
Nobody knows I’m: Computer illiterate.
My fantasy is: I’m still on TV with this show seven years from now.
The one thing I can’t stand: California drivers.
If I could change one thing about myself: I’d lose some of my insecurities.
People who knew me in high school thought I was: I never went to high school. I had a tutor.
I knew I was a grown-up when I: I’ve been working so many years that I’ve always done grown-up things.
My most irrational act: I’m Irish, so there were several. Many years ago, before I reformed, I had a hot temper.
My friends like me because: I bake a really good chocolate cake. The secret is my grandmother’s icing.
If I wasn’t an actress, I’d be: A laywer or something outdoors, like working on a farm or running a bed-and-breakfast.
If I’ve learned one thing in life it’s: Everything changes.
Three words that best describe me: Loving, independent and challenged.
