Lawrence Ragan, 73, of Chicago, a newsletter publisher and former DePaul University professor, died Saturday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. Mr. Ragan endured a two-year bout with Lou Gehrig’s disease. In 1970, Mr. Ragan launched The Ragan Report, a weekly newsletter covering employee communications and public relations. His company, Lawrence Ragan Communications Inc. in Chicago, became a model for developing newsletters covering specific industries. The company published 14 other nationally known newsletters. Survivors include his wife, Regina; a daughter, Janine; and three sons, Mark, Brian and Thomas. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Jerome Zimny Funeral Home, 16774 Dixie Hwy., Hazel Crest. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 16801 Dixie Hwy., Hazel Crest.
