When he played with the Bulls, Craig Hodges’ forte was hitting the three-point shot.
The accent on perimeter scoring carried over when Hodges embarked on his coaching career last year as his Cougars averaged almost 23 attempts per game from three-point territory.
Even if they had hit all of them, the Cougars still would have had a hard time winning because of their generosity on defense, where they allowed 91.6 points a game.
In hopes of giving the program a quick fix, Hodges has brought in eight newcomers, five of whom are juniors. The most highly touted is James Martin, a 6-foot-9-inch junior college transfer.
The VIP among the incumbents is Kory Bullups, a 6-7 junior who averaged 16 points and 8.2 rebounds.
