Candy by computer: Shopping for the candy cravers on the holiday list just became easier. Long Grove Confectionery, the northwest suburbs’ answer to San Francisco’s Ghirardelli chocolates, has opened a site in cyberspace.
Internet browsers from as far away as Calgary in Canada have tapped in the company’s home page address, http://www.Longgrove.com, asking for catalogs, according to retail sales manager Beth Murphy.
“It’s a very exciting new way to communicate with people,” said Murphy, speaking from company headquarters in Long Grove.
The company is also expanding the page to include order-taking. “We’re novices with it,” Murphy said. “When we went on-line a couple of months ago, we were not as interactive as we would have liked. We’re learning as we go.”
