Members of a citizens coalition that has criticized the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority for its proposals to extend tollways into Lake and Will Counties are expected to make their presence known when the agency meets in regular session. The coalition includes suburban groups that challenge the tollway authority to justify the need for the proposed northern and southern extensions of Interstate Highway 355 and city groups that say the new roads exacerbate suburban sprawl and lead to disinvestment in Chicago and the region’s inner-ring suburbs.
10 a.m. Thursday at tollway headquarters, I-355 and Ogden Avenue, Downers Grove.
