As Abraham Lincoln said at Gettysburg: “. . . and that govern-ment of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the Earth.”
I don’t think he meant: “. . . and that government of the politicians, by political confrontation, for political parties shall not perish from the Earth.”
