According to William Pfaff (Op-Ed, Jan. 16), Labor Secretary Robert Reich sharply condemns corporate layoffs as “anti-social behavior.”

On the other hand, last September President Clinton celebrated the second anniversary of his “re-inventing government” campaign by proudly claiming that “the federal government today has 160,000 fewer people on the payroll than it did when I took office.”

How’s that for burning the candor at both ends?
