Mary Stur, 100, a retired Illinois Bell supervisor who began working there in her early teens, died on Jan. 24 in a Miami hospital. Born and raised in Chicago, she began working as a long-distance operator at Illinois Bell in 1910. Mrs. Stur retired as a supervisor 47 years later and then moved to Miami Shores, Fla., where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Florida Pioneers of America. Mrs. Stur is survived by many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hennessy-Bruno Funeral Home, 5903 Burr Oak Ave., Berkeley. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. at the St. Domitilla Church, 4900 Washington, Hillside.
