John P. Gallagher, 68, of Northfield died Friday in the Miami Heart Institute in Miami Beach of complications from a stroke. Mr. Gallagher, who was born in Evanston, was vice chairman of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., an international insurance brokerage and risk management firm based in Itasca. Mr. Gallagher, who joined the company in 1950, was a founder of the firm’s claims and risk management information unit and, in the late 1980s, helped build the international division. He also founded the company’s intern-training program. Survivors include his wife, Mary; four sons, J. Patrick Jr., Tom, Mark and Paul; and two daughters, Marcy Johnson and Jennifer Ring. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 1962 Old Willow Rd., Northfield.
