Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
Let’s have a pity party for Tony Phillips of the White Sox, who found that his two-year, $3.6 million con-tract did not include respect (Sports, Feb. 28). Do any of these overpaid athletes realize that such whining causes them to appear ignorant?
Please send him a copy of the Tempo section from the same day. Perhaps somebody could show him the article by Richard Rothschild about nine Chicago-area music teachers. No doubt their combined salaries do not even come close to the $1.8 million Phillips is to earn in one year.
Those nine teachers, however, have my respect.
