One of the fond memories I have is the marvelous WGN Saturday night musical treat, “The Theater of the Air,” hosted by Col. Robert McCormick, guiding light of the Chicago Tribune.
When will we ever hear again such wonderful singers as Richard Tucker, Nelson Eddy, Lily Pons, Rise Stevens, Jan Peerce and Helen Traubel?
That was when radio was radio and music was music.
