Richard Durbin’s decisive win in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate demonstrated that a candidate can win with a positive campaign message. While his opponent, Pat Quinn, waged an intensively negative campaign against him, Durbin did not say one negative word about Quinn in any of his com-mercials. Politicians, take note.

Durbin’s nomination shows that we want politicians to tell us about themselves, not to malign their opponents. We are sick of negative campaigning and find it an insult to our intelligence.
