Dennis Scott made an NBA-record 11 three-pointers and the Magic won a franchise-record 58th game Thursday night with a 119-104 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in Orlando.
Brian Shaw, who shared the previous record of 10 threes in a game with Joe Dumars and George McCloud, got the assists on Scott’s 10th and 11th three-pointers of the night.
Scott, who made 11 of 17 threes and finished with 35 points, tied the record with 9 minutes 28 seconds remaining. He received a standing ovation from a crowd of 17,248 when he broke it with 5:18 to go.
Shaw set the three-point mark on April 8, 1993, while with Miami. Detroit’s Dumars tied it in 1994 and McCloud made 10 in a game for Dallas earlier this season.
