Green reading: Study a book, study a bog. You can do both at the Volo Bog’s informal book discussion group, Of Bog & Books.

The group, which began in January 1994, meets the first Thursday of each month to discuss literature that involves the environment.

Site interpretive program coordinator Stacy Miller says that anywhere from two to 10 people participate in the discussions, held at the Volo Bog Visitor Center in Ingleside. Discussions have included the works of Henry David Thoreau, William K. Stevens and Al Gore.

The free meetings are sponsored by the Volo Bog State Natural Area and Friends of Volo Bog. For more information, call 815-344-1294.
