Mabel Chaney, 88, a retired nurse, died Saturday in Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Originally from Nebraska, she trained as a nurse but stopped working when she married. She resumed her career after the death of her husband and worked for about 25 years in an allergist’s practice in Wheaton until she retired in 1983. She lived in Villa Park for about 40 years and most recently lived in Elmhurst. Mrs. Chaney is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Hachmeister; two sons, Marvin and Ray; a brother; a sister; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
