Peoria’s Caterpillar Inc. formed a company in China to hold the equity in its two Chinese ventures: Caterpillar Shanghai Engine Co., which builds diesel engines, and Caterpillar Xuzhou Co., which builds excavating equipment. Also, Caterpillar asked a federal judge to dismiss civil and criminal contempt charges filed against the company after it refused to allow federal health investigators to enter a Pennsylvania plant this month.
