The erudite folks who run the Music Educators National Conference have decreed that Americans don’t know good music from bad. So they published a list of 42 tunes that everyone ought to be singing for their own good, including such timeless classics as “Green Green Grass of Home” and “Puff the Magic Dragon.”
But why stop at 42 songs?
– “Louie Louie” Lyrics may not be much, but the chorus is easy to remember.
– “Volare” Will sell the finest Corinthian leather.
– “Love Will Keep Us Together” You, too, can be a rock star.
– “Me So Horny” A gangsta rap masterpiece by 2 Live Crew.
– “It’s the Real Thing, Coke” Capitalist ballad.
– “Oh Where, Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone”–Actually a rip-off from Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony.
– “I’m Gonna Hire a Wino to Decorate Our Home”–Need we say more?
