Quaker Oats Co. shareholders rejected a proposal calling on the company’s board to consider separating its food and beverage businesses through a spinoff. About 89 percent of the shares voting at the Chicago-based firm’s annual meeting, held in Danville, Ill., opposed the resolution. The firm has come under fire for the lackluster performance of its Snapple beverage line.
