Village officials plan to extend a contract with Laidlaw Waste Systems Inc. in Schaumburg to continue providing refuse and recycling pickup for residents.
The contract calls for about a 5 percent increase in monthly fees. Households pay $10.55 per month. In the next year, the fee will jump to $11.04 per month, while in the 1997-98 year, it will increase to $11.59.
Residents will save on their white-goods disposal and will see a drop in the cost of yard-waste stickers.
Under the extended contract, residents can dispose of white goods such as hot water heaters and stoves at a cost of $15 instead of the current fee of $40. Yard-waste stickers will drop to $1.25 from $1.40.
